As mentioned in my last post I have been working VERY hard on my new art ebook.

Basically it’s a look at almost all of the step by steps / tutorials and paintings I have had onmy easel in the last 8-10 years!

It started off as a small project, but last count there was almost 100 pages!!! each page has approx 3 photos on it so there is a massive 250-300 photos. I think it will be of great use to artists who are interested in seeing how I go from initial idea to finished painting in my wildlife artwork.

I’m still adding some more content at the moment and also expanding on the original text to give even more tips and secrets

I’ve got something exciting to tell you all on this post (well I think it’s exciting – but perhaps I get excited too easily ha…)

My tutorial site www.jasonmorgan.co.uk has been online for over 10 years now! and in that time I’ve displayed most of the paintings I’ve completed in a step by step format, in a section called – “on my easel”.

Well as new paintings are started I display them in place of the previously completed one, so the “on my easel” page is updated frequently. But with that comes a bit of a problem, all my old step by steps are lost forever!

Soooo…. I got to thinking that it might be of real use for artists hoping to start, or improve their wildlife art, if I gathered ALL the old demos and the brand new ones too (and believe me there are LOTS!) and put them all on an ebook, so they could be easily downloaded and then read on the computer.

What better way to learn the way I tackle each painting, than to actually see the step by steps???

So that is what I am working on at the moment, compiling all my old and also brand new painting photographs, and updating the original text, plus adding lots of new thoughts and pointers - I think it’s going to help a lot of would be wildlife and general artists to understand the thought and practical processes involved in my paintings.

Well the detail stage is well underway now – I’ve decided not to go too detailed on the painting, although it might look like I have painted every hair I can assure you it’s only the suggestion I have put in – remember how much smaller you are seeing it on your screens

I’ll post some details when finished just to show you.

Stil go lots to do on him, the ears, back etc plus refinement of colours with glazing at the end.

I’ve been working hard to get my latest and LARGEST limited edition print ready in time for Christmas orders. Getting a perfect print done of a painting this size – 52 inches wide, is no easy task I can tell you!

But it is currently in the VERY final proof stage, so please drop me an email jason@onlineartdemos.co.uk to reserve your copy.

With the underpainting now fully completed I can now begin to refine the tiger a little – bear in mind that this is still very much an underpainting and the real details haven’t been painted yet in any area.

As you all know my technique is really an improvement on each layer, as I gradually sneak up on the completion., It’s really an improvement on each previous layers mistakes

Well with the acrylic underpainting, complete and dry I am now gradually going over the underpainting with the 1st coat of oils. Here you can see that I have applied oil paints to the eye areas and also the blue side of the fur.

Another benefit of a quick acrylic underpainting is that you require less layers of the oil to give a nice opaque colour.

At this stage I have finished blocking in the very basic colours and form with acrylic paint – next comes the exciting part, brining this tiger to life with oils

Here’s a quick glimpse at my latest commission a magnificent Siberian Tiger in very dramatic lighting.

The 1st photo shows the initial drawing on the canvas

The 2nd photo shows that I have applied a quick burnt sienna, acrylic wash over the drawing, wiping out the highlights with some tissue whilst the wash was still wet.

The 3rd photo shows the very start of the acrylic underpainting. As this painting will have such a contrast between the both sides of the painting I wanted a good underpainting to work from – hence the acrylics

I’ve just started my latest commission – a huge tiger portrait with real dramatic lighting
