Free Reference Photos for Artists – every friday

FREE REFERENCE PHOTO’S FOR ARTISTS

EVERY FRIDAY I WILL TAKE DOWN THE PREVIOUS WEEKS PHOTOS AND REPLACE THEM WITH NEW ONES FOR YOU!

Free Photo Friday – What’s it all about?

Every Friday I upload some new photos I have taken for you to use for FREE in your artwork

Why am I doing this?

I just LOVE taking photos. I have literally tens of thousands of photos that I have taken over the years, including wildlife, insects, flowers, Landscapes and more.

Some of my best can be found in high resolution on my “Reference photo’s for Artists” sets HERE

But that still leaves LOTS that never get used at all.

So every Friday I will share with you some of my photos for you to use in your artwork, they could be anything – guess you will just have to check each Friday to see if it is something you would like to paint.

Tiger Painting Art Video – Speed Painting

Hi everyone,

I have been playing with my HD video recorder and recorded the beginning stages of my latest Tiger oil painting, hope you like it so far.

It is not meant as an instructional aid, but just to show you the process – for now, stay tuned for much bigger developments.

I would be VERY interested to hear any comments or suggestions, remember this blog is here for you to use 🙂

New Original Oil Paintings Coming soon to my easel

I’ve got some exciting news!

I’m just about to start some new original paintings.

1st one up will be an African wild dog commission, this one is particularly exciting as the dogs will be in water!

Then I have a huge Nile Croc painting, which is a species I have wanted to tackle (not literally. ha..) for a few years, so now’s my chance! and at the same time I will be starting a brand new tiger painting, this one will possibly my largest painting to date, so please stay tuned to see the paintings develop both here and on my wildlife art gallery website.

Tiger Painting 99% Completed “On my Easel”

I’ve worked some more on him – 99.0% done now.

All I have left to do is to add some blue shadow to some of the whiskers on the shadow side of the face and he is done – hope you all like him

better photo on my site

BTW I have been working REAL HARD for days to put all of my demos and “on my easel” tutorials that I’ve done over the past 8-10 years as 2 ebooks, each one will be 50 odd pages in length and about 150 ish photos! so lots of details showing how I have tackled each subject, I hope they will be of use to some. Ishould have the 1st volume done in a couple more days.

Brand NEW Painting Ebook – “The Tutorials” – COMING SOON!

I’ve got something exciting to tell you all on this post (well I think it’s exciting – but perhaps I get excited too easily ha…)

My tutorial site www.jasonmorgan.co.uk has been online for over 10 years now! and in that time I’ve displayed most of the paintings I’ve completed in a step by step format, in a section called – “on my easel”.

Well as new paintings are started I display them in place of the previously completed one, so the “on my easel” page is updated frequently. But with that comes a bit of a problem, all my old step by steps are lost forever!

Soooo…. I got to thinking that it might be of real use for artists hoping to start, or improve their wildlife art, if I gathered ALL the old demos and the brand new ones too (and believe me there are LOTS!) and put them all on an ebook, so they could be easily downloaded and then read on the computer.

What better way to learn the way I tackle each painting, than to actually see the step by steps???

So that is what I am working on at the moment, compiling all my old and also brand new painting photographs, and updating the original text, plus adding lots of new thoughts and pointers – I think it’s going to help a lot of would be wildlife and general artists to understand the thought and practical processes involved in my paintings.

I HOPE to have it ready within about a week…. so watch this blog and I’ll also send out my FREE Newsletter to say when it is released.

Tiger Painting – Beginning the Oil Paints

Well with the acrylic underpainting, complete and dry I am now gradually going over the underpainting with the 1st coat of oils. Here you can see that I have applied oil paints to the eye areas and also the blue side of the fur.

Another benefit of a quick acrylic underpainting is that you require less layers of the oil to give a nice opaque colour.
